| Mental illness, addiction, and
HIV can exact a terrible toll on our personal lives. Disruptions
in education and employment, estrangement from family
and friends, and the dissolution of self-esteem and spirit
are only compounded by the societal stigma cast on mental
illness and addiction. Since
1974 we have had the privilege of entering into relationships
with individuals struggling with mental illness, drug/alcohol
addiction and those who are battling against HIV. The
common thread that bonds these people together, and
in part the source of our strength and continued commitment
to the work we do - their tremendous courage.
We are grateful for their willingness
to share their lives and stories with us - and through
