About

Our Mission

New Leaf: Services For Our Community exists to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals and families of all ages lead healthy and connected lives. We provide professional mental health, substance abuse, and social support services to strengthen our diverse community.

Our History

New Leaf was forged from the 1995 merger of Operation Concern and 18th Street Services, which had been operating since 1974 and 1975 respectively. New Leaf continues the two agencies’ long histories of providing quality mental health, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and support services to low-income and disenfranchised individuals, families and groups.

With our established credibility and community ties, our many years of experience and professional training, the merger created a stronger and more diverse agency with greater potential for serving people that other agencies cannot—or will not—treat.

Our Guiding Principles
  1. We are client-centered; our decisions are driven first by what is in the best interests of our clients.

  2. We approach clients holistically; we value their whole human experience while responding to specific needs and issues.

  3. We are committed to maximize our resources to address complex and and ever-changing community needs while maintaining fiscal stability and integrity.

  4. We recognize the value of our staff longevity and promotion: we strive to acknowledge, reward and retain our staff, fully use their skills, and experience and encourage their professional growth and development.

  5. We strive to maintain organizational autonomy and flexibility.
